Mikumi National Park is situated approximately 300km to the west of Dar Es Salaam and is easly accessible by car on an excellent tarred road. Mikumi is ideal visitors who do not have much time but want to see wildlife, and for short weekend visit for Dar Es Salaam residents

You will start game viewing even before entering the Park, for, the main road from Dar Es Salaam to Iringa/Mbeya passes in the Park

You should expect to see lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, boars, wildebeests, impalas, and many more

At about 5 km from the north of the main gate, there are two pools inhabited by mud-loving beasts, the hippos. On the sides of the ponds you will see variety of waterbirds.

More than 400 bird species have been recorded, with such colourful common residents as the lilac-breasted roller, yellow-throated longclaw and bateleur eagle joined by a host of European migrants during the rainy season.
